Brian Samson, SPHR is the founder of HR for Startups LLC.

Brian has over 10 years of industry experience from a variety of perspectives:

 

• In-House Head of Talent for several technology startups, including exec. team roles

• HR Consultant and/or advisor to over 25 clients

• External (Agency) Recruiter and Recruiting Manager for boutique and national firms

• Advisory board member to 5 different recruiting product startups

• Non-profit board member to Crowden Music Center

• Current Executive MBA student of UCLA & National University of Singapore 

 

Brian's most proud career moments have been:

 

• Growing the LendingClub engineering team from 19 to 90 engineers in 14 months, leading to one of the top 10 U.S. technology IPOs of all-time

• Leading the National Accounts Division of Sapphire Technologies (team of 14 recruiters) to their top 4 most profitable months in division history, including an all-time high that still stands

• Mentoring and coaching over a dozen engineers and recruiters who are now successfully managing their own teams

• Successfully passed SPHR certification (senior professional in human resources, the CPA equivelant for HR professionals, with a sub 50% pass rate)

• Maintaining a closing rate of over 88% of engineers in competitive San Francisco

 

Brian's most proud personal moments have been:

 

• Marrying his wife, Christie in 2014

• Completing 5 full marathons

• Serving as a Big Brother in Big Brothers-Big Sisters

• Being a loyal Cub's fan through thick and thin (mostly thin)
